Getting started
What you need and the steps to take, from creating an account to the first readings in your portal.
Connect the BoilerBuddy Alpo, link it to your account and your solar water heater shows up in your portal. These are the steps.
What you need
- A solar water heater with an OEG KSW-E, KSW or KS2W. Other controllers don't work yet.
- The Alpo, with a network cable to your router. Wi-Fi will follow later.
- An email address for your account and your alerts.
Rather not connect it yourself? An installer from the installer directory can do it for you. Want to look around first? Try the demo.
1. Create an account
Choose Sign up on the website and enter your name, email address and a password. Then click the link in the email you receive. Only then can you use the portal.
The first 30 days are free. After that you pay €3.95 per device per month: see Subscription.
2. Connect the Alpo
The Alpo connects to your controller with a USB cable, to your router with a network cable, and to a power socket. It only reads: nothing changes on your controller. See Connecting the Alpo.
3. Link the Alpo to your account
In the portal, go to Devices and choose New device. Give it a name, choose BoilerBuddy Alpo as the Device type and enter your Alpo's pairing code. It is on the Alpo's status page: open the address on its sticker, http://boilerbuddy-xxxx.local, on a phone or computer on your own network. See Pairing with a code.
You can have up to five devices on your account. Need more? Contact us.
4. Tell us about your installation
Choose the circuit your controller is set to, so we know what each reading is. Then, under Installation details, enter your tank volume, boiler efficiency and gas price for a better savings estimate. See Circuit and installation details.
5. See your readings
Your readings appear on the Dashboard. After you choose the circuit, this can take up to 15 minutes. Until then it says "No readings yet".
