How it works

From your solar water heater to your screen

The BoilerBuddy Alpo sits next to your solar water heater and keeps track of what happens. You see it in your portal, and you hear about it when something's wrong.

  1. ControllerRuns your solar water heater, as always.
  2. AlpoKeeps track of what the controller measures.
  3. PortalStores your readings and watches for faults.
  4. YouAnd whoever you invite, on phone, tablet or computer.

The Alpo

A small device next to your solar water heater

You connect the Alpo to your solar water heater's controller. From then on it keeps track of what happens, and you see it in your portal.

  • Only watches

Your solar water heater works as it always has, even when the Alpo is off.

  • No gaps when the internet drops

If the internet goes down, it sends everything later.

  • Every minute

Every minute you see how warm the collector on your roof and your tank are, and whether the pump is running.

Connecting

To your controller and your router

The Alpo goes next to your solar water heater's controller. Rather not do it yourself? An installer can take care of it.

  1. 1

    To the controller

Connect the Alpo to your solar water heater's controller. That's how it sees what the controller measures.

  2. 2

    To your router

Use a network cable to your router. There's nothing to set up. Wi-Fi is coming later.

  3. 3

    Power

Plug the Alpo into a socket. It starts by itself and begins measuring.

Pairing with a code

The pairing code is on your Alpo's status page. You open it at the address on the sticker, like http://boilerbuddy-1f2a.local. Your installer can also do this for you.

  1. 1

Open the address on your Alpo's sticker, on a phone or computer on your own network. The pairing code is there.

  2. 2

Add your Alpo in the portal and enter the code.

  3. 3

The Alpo starts sending by itself. Within a few minutes you see your first readings.

Your data

Your readings are yours

We only collect what's needed to show your system.

  • What gets sent

Your controller's readings, and how the Alpo is doing: software version, serial number, how long it's been on, its IP address on your home network, signal strength, how many readings are waiting and its last error. Nothing about other devices on your network.

  • Who sees it

You, and the people you invite. You can stop sharing at any time.

  • No tracking

No advertising cookies and no trackers, on the website or in the portal. The map on the contact page only loads when you ask for it.

  • How long

We keep readings per minute for a month. After that we keep averages, and daily averages stay forever. So you can look back for years.
